Last week I had the privilege of being interviewed for a podcast episode by singer/songwriter Rachelle LaNae where I talked about strategies on how to take care of ourselves during this COVID-19 time of staying at home.
Rachelle LaNae’s podcast, Wreck Your Perfection, is where you'll hear from courageous humans who have figured out how to embrace failure and imperfection, and live in alignment with their true selves. Rachelle’s initial mission was to figure out how to raise brave kids, but she quickly learned that one of the most important ways we can do this is by being brave ourselves.
With COVID-19 causing a major shift in our daily lives, a lot of us are coping by trying to put together the perfect daily routine, and workout plan, and generally I think just struggling to process all that’s going on. In this episode I share a lot of great tools for being more gentle with yourself about your productivity, reconnecting with your body so that you can eat and move your body more intuitively, and being more in tune with our feelings so that we can find healthy ways of coping.
I encourage listeners to give themselves permission to think of this time as one of healing and self-care vs hustling and productivity. It is easy to forget the energy it takes to sit with fear, uncertainty and change. Whether it is about food or at home workouts, instead of seeking out “plans” and looking outward on how you are “supposed” to be and feel during this time, ask “what am I feeling right now, and what am I needing?” Sometimes we won’t know the answer and often it will be messy as we figure it out, but by learning to trust your intuitive cues, you will best be able to take care of yourself.
